Woods of the Kadohadacho

For over 25 years I’ve been drawn to the landscape of East Texas. Occupied by Caddo Indians before it was clear-cut over a century ago, it’s an enduring place where creeks trickle into Big Cypress Bayou as it snakes its way through the pines. In these woods, a sanctuary reveals itself that bekons my camera. I usually visit a place many times before and after photographing it. I work early or late in the day when the light is quiet. The 4x5 view camera is my preference for these images.
